“how come you can fly the tardis?” ”oh, I had lessons from the very best.”
30 Day One Era Challenge → Day 9: Favorite Barbara Moment of Awesome
Truthbombing One, The Edge of Destruction
Almost any companion could have driven a truck over a patrol of Daleks, but this speech is uniquely Barbara.
I think this might be the moment The Doctor falls in love with the Earth and its people. It’s really easy to forget that at this point in his life, he’s a spoiled kid who ran away from home in a stolen beater of a timeship. He’s not used to being confronted or questioned, and he’s pretty sure these two idiots who burst into his TARDIS have wrecked it, cause that’s what lower creatures do. He’s prepared to kick them out when Barbara drops this. He’s abducted these people, taken them far from their home, forced them into danger, and they want nothing more than to help him.
In standing up for herself and Ian, Barbara unwittingly shows the young Doctor the best of humanity, in the worst possible way.

COOL
“I did wind him [David Tennant] up though. Because the moment where I do whisper in his ear, I *was* whispering things in his ear. There’s quite a lot of outtakes of him not being able to keep a straight face. But I’m not gonna tell you what I was whispering!”
—Alex Kingston on the infamous whisper scene from Forest of the Dead- at Hurricane Who Q&A panel
